Lines we walk

A language for saying how you are

Six digits say how you are, and the picture above is drawn from them. The line is the path under your feet. The prints are yours. The drop on either side is how near the edge has come, and the sky is the weather all six make together.

Zero is the least, nine the most. Tap any digit in the caption, or the sentence under it, and its question opens: what that digit stands for, and all ten values with their words. Choose one and the picture redraws. On a keyboard, tab to a digit, then use the arrow keys and Enter. Tap the name, “Lines we walk”, at the top, and the picture is labelled with what’s what.

The three pairs

Line
The first two digits: how wide the path is, and how steady it lies.
Step
The middle two: your pace, which is speed and not wellness, and your footing, which is how often you stumble.
World
The last two: how far it is to the edge on your left, and on your right.

Left and right

The left edge is the inside: how close the drop feels in your own head. The right edge is the world around you: family, friends, the life outside your head. A wide right means there is a lot out there to stand on.

Choosing

Pick what feels true. The picture might match a description, or it might just match how you feel. Either is fine.

This code

The sky isn't a setting. When things are well it is washed with blue and lightly ruled; as the digits darken, the rules close up, the clouds fill with cross-hatching, and now and then the storm lights up. The prints are pressed like a stamp: fresh ones are dark and crisp, older ones dry and fade.

Then and now

What matters most is the change. Check in again later, and see what moved, and why.

Your usual is kept in this browser and in the link, after an underscore. It goes nowhere else.

What it is not

It isn't validated, it isn't a diagnosis, and it isn't a risk assessment. It doesn't replace a conversation. There are no accounts. The code lives in the link you choose to share, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Drawn in one ink on warm paper. The same walker, the same line, engraved.
